A Christ-centered community that gathers every Thursday for worship, scripture, honest conversation, and shared food. Everyone is welcome — exactly as they are.
Surge Recovery was founded by Jim Lehmkuhl — a recovered addict who built the community he needed but couldn't find. What grew out of that is something bigger than any one person's story.
Today, Surge is a Christ-centered fellowship where people in recovery, Christians seeking community, families walking through struggle, and anyone carrying something heavy all find the same thing: a room full of believers who take both faith and suffering seriously, and who have decided not to do this alone.
No program. No steps. No credentials required. Just scripture, prayer, food, and people who show up every week.
Our Story
Any given Thursday, you'll find about 15–25 people ranging in age, background, and reason for being there. What they share is a willingness to be honest and a faith worth living out.
Men and women walking the longer road from addiction — who want Christ at the center of that walk, not anonymous meetings in a church basement.
Spouses, parents, siblings, and friends who love someone in recovery — and who need their own community, not just a seat at someone else's support group.
Believers from local churches who want midweek community with scripture, honest prayer, and real conversation — not just a Sunday service.
Grief. Anxiety. Marriage stress. Loss of purpose. People who are struggling with something that doesn't have a name — and who don't want to struggle alone.
People who carry faith but are done with church politics and performance — who want something smaller, more honest, and led by people who've also been through it.
People who aren't sure what they believe, or who were referred by a pastor or a friend — and just want to see what's here before deciding anything.
No program. No worksheet. No obligation to speak. Here's a real Thursday from start to finish.
Walk in. Someone will greet you. There is food. You don't have to announce yourself or explain why you came. Just arrive.
One gospel song — played or sung together — to shift the room from the noise of the day into something quieter and more focused.
A short teaching from a video series. Right now, the group is working through Joyce Meyer's Battlefield of the Mind — a scripture-rooted study on renewing the mind and breaking destructive thought patterns.
Reading from the current book together, followed by open conversation. No one is called on. People share when they're ready. The conversation goes where the room needs it to go.
Every single week, without exception. Food is not incidental — it's part of the gathering. It gives people a reason to linger and a reason to come back.
Group prayer and one-on-one prayer. People share what they're carrying. Others pray with them — not over them. This is the heart of the evening.
The official time ends. Most people stay. The conversations that happen in the last half hour — in small groups, one-on-one, over the food — are often the most important part of the night.
7:00 – 8:30 PM
Most people stay until 9:00 or later.
No RSVP needed. Just show up.

The group is currently working through Joyce Meyer's landmark book on the mind — how we think, how destructive thought patterns form, and how scripture renews the way we see ourselves, our suffering, and God. It pairs directly with the Romans 12:2 anchor that runs through everything Surge does.
This study will conclude when the book is finished. New studies are chosen by the group. Come now and join us in progress.
No sign-up. No commitment. No qualifying story required. Just show up at 7:00 PM, Conference Room 1, Towne Place Suites, 748 Premium Way, Chesterfield, MO.
You don't have to carry it alone. Share what's on your heart — our community prays over every request submitted here, personally and with faith.
Every request is held in confidence. You can choose to share your name or remain anonymous.
